What is happening?
- Nephi and his brothers finish building the ship. They build it not after the manner of men, but the manner of God.
- They all get onto the boat and head to the Promised Land. The brothers get prideful again and bind up Nephi.
- There comes a great storm and the boat is almost consumed by the ocean. Finally, the brothers release Nephi and he prays for the storm to stop. Then he guides the boat.
- They have arrived.
How does this apply to my life?
- In vs. 16, Nephi once again shows his great faith. It is just amazing how faithful he is even when he is tied up! I hope to have this kind of faith during my own afflictions.
- How could the brothers deny God after they crossed this huge ocean safely and got to the Promised Land?
- How prideful were the brothers to not untie Nephi as they were almost going to be destroyed??
Vs. 16- "Nevertheless, I did look unto my God, and I did priase him all the day long; and I did not murmur against the Lord because of mine afflictions."
I just think that this is amazing faith. I can't believe that he had this mich faith to continue the praise God when the verse before he was talking about how sore he was from being tied up!! Yet, Lamen and Lemuel murmur at the first sign of trouble. This is the first big difference between these brothers.
