Day 1- 1 Nephi 1

How many one's can you get into a title? Apparently at least three. Here is Day 1 and Chapter 1 as I begin my journey.

What is happening?
  1.  Nephi is making a record of the things that are happening.
  2.  Lehi has a vision that Jeruselem is going to be destroyed.
  3.  The Jews were angry with Lehi because he is predicting that Jeruselem will be destroyed.
How does this apply to my life?
  1.  I need to make a better record of the things happening in my life.
  2.  I just heard the words of the prophet yesterday. Am I going to listen to these words and apply them to my own life or will my ignorance of them be like the Jews mocking Lehi?
  3.  How can I have my "whole heart filled because of the things which I have seen, yeah whicht he Lord has shown unto me?" (vs. 15 w/ a few personal edits)
Favorite Verse? Why?
Okay, well I have two favorite verses in this chapter...
Vs. 1 "I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I hwas taught someone in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days."
I love this verse so much because I can relate so much to Nephi in this moment. I was born of goodly parents. I have been taught by them. I have seen many afflictions in my days, but still I have been favored of the Lord. I know that Heavenly Father has been very aware of my circumstances. It is hard for me to have faith and to trust the mysteries of God sometimes, but I know that He is there.

Vs. 15 "And after this manner was the language of my father in the praising of his God; for his soul did rejoice and his whole heart was filled, because of the things which he had seen, yea, which the Lord had shown unto him"
I love this verse because I can see that Lehi is so happy at this moment. Though I have not seen any vision in my day, I want what Lehi has. I want my heart to be full of love and happiness. It is something I am striving for and praying that I gain as I do this Book of Mormon Challenge.
