What is happening?
- God commands Nephi to build a ship. The first thing he says is where can I find ore to build tools to do this.
- Lamen and Lemuel murmur about building a ship. They make fun of Nephi.
- Nephi reminds them all that God has accomplished in the past. He literally shocks them. :)
How does this apply to my life?
- I love Nephi's faith. The interesting story about this is my Geology teacher last semester went to find the locations of where these events happened. They thought that they had found Bountiful, but they couldn't find any ore deposits. They looked around and around. Finally, they found it in an unlikely spot. The Book of Mormon is true.
- What would I be willing to do if the Lord asked me?
- What would my reaction be if my younger brother told me that we needed to build a ship?
Vs. 13 "And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led."
Even though I am not being literally let to a promised land, I believe that as we keep the commandments God will lead us in the direction we need to go.
